Happy 10th Anniversary KMI
– July, 17, 2026
The first mission trip in 2016 took 12 members from Epiphany (North America) around the world to Uganda (Africa). Our mission team, though we thought we were tourists, was welcomed by students, staff, villagers, and more with a joyful celebration and hearts wide open. Little did that team of twelve realize a ministry was about to explode.
Ten years later, a partnership between people on two continents has strengthened, students continue to succeed, the community has flourished, and real change is taking place.
God has bestowed blessings, too numerous to count, on everyone involved. The prayers on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean are being answered in ways we could not have imagined in 2016!

Mission Trip Update:
The mission trip has been canceled due to geopolitical unrest and safety concerns. Be assured that the mission continues: students will still receive annual health checks and medicines. Any letters given to the team will be delivered to students on a future trip.
New and Exciting Projects:
Thanks to your support, a playground is being installed at Saint Teresa Learning Center. Construction is also underway on a new multi-purpose building for use by the school and the community.
Parish Assignment:
Our beloved founder, Father John, will be leaving Church of the Epiphany at the end of June for his new assignment at St. Matthew in Virginia Beach. He will continue his work with KMI, and together we will continue to pursue our mission to improve the quality of life for the people of Kassunga!
You’ve Got Mail
– May, 12, 2026
Our mission team will travel to Uganda in July and will carry your greetings to everyone at the school. In addition to bringing medicines and rosaries, team members would also like to bring your letters. Let the students hear “you’ve got mail” when the team arrives.
With over 450 students at STLC and an additional 67 students at secondary schools, lots of letters are needed. Please get in touch with us at to learn more about sending your own letter to a student in Uganda.
Springtime is Here!
At Kassunga Mission Initiative, that means it is also fundraising time and volunteers are needed.
• KMI will be working at the concession stand at the new CarMax Park during several Richmond Flying Squirrels homestands. When you attend a game, be sure to look for us. All tips will support the projects of KMI. Come out to the Park, have FUNN and go NUTZ!
• KMI’s 7th Annual Golf Tournament will be held June 22, 2026. There is still time to register your team, advertise your business, or just support the cause.

Time to Tee It Up!
The 7th Annual Wishing for Wells and Community Well-Being Golf Tournament benefiting Kassunga Mission Initiative will take place Monday, June 22, 2026, at Brandermill Country Club. Registration begins at 10:00 AM with a noon shotgun start, followed by lunch, dinner, a silent auction, and awards.
Proceeds from past tournaments have helped provide wells, rainwater collection systems, cisterns, and community water stations—bringing safe, clean drinking water to families in Kassunga.
Golfers, sponsors, volunteers, and supporters are all invited to participate. Join us as we continue working toward clean water and healthier communities in Kassunga.
