At Kassunga Mission Initiative, that means it is also fundraising time and volunteers are needed.
• KMI will be working at the concession stand at the new CarMax Park during several Richmond Flying Squirrels homestands. When you attend a game, be sure to look for us. All tips will support the projects of KMI. Come out to the Park, have FUNN and go NUTZ!
• KMI’s 7th Annual Golf Tournament will be held June 22, 2026. There is still time to register your team, advertise your business, or just support the cause. Click here to make your choice: 2026 Golf Tournament.

Time to Tee It Up!
The 7th Annual Wishing for Wells and Community Well-Being Golf Tournament benefiting Kassunga Mission Initiative will take place Monday, June 22, 2026, at Brandermill Country Club. Registration begins at 10:00 AM with a noon shotgun start, followed by lunch, dinner, a silent auction, and awards.
Proceeds from past tournaments have helped provide wells, rainwater collection systems, cisterns, and community water stations—bringing safe, clean drinking water to families in Kassunga.
Golfers, sponsors, volunteers, and supporters are all invited to participate. Join us as we continue working toward clean water and healthier communities in Kassunga.
Mission Trip 2025: A Journey of Service and Connection
In July 2025, 16 travelers embarked on a mission trip to Kassunga, Uganda. Departing from the Church of the Epiphany, the team aimed to engage with the local community, support ongoing projects at the St. Teresa Learning Center, and strengthen the bonds between KMI and the residents of Kassunga. Updates and stories from their journey were shared on KMI’s social media platforms, providing supporters with real-time insights into their impactful work.
Fundraising Through Sports: The 2025 Charity Golf Tournament
KMI organized its annual Charity Golf Tournament in 2025, bringing together supporters and golf enthusiasts to raise funds for the initiative’s various projects. The event provided a platform for community engagement and generated essential resources to further KMI’s mission of improving education and healthcare in Kassunga.
Infrastructure Improvements: Enhancing Access to Clean Water
An engineering team, comprising both American and Ugandan members, successfully replaced a failed pump in one of Kassunga’s wells. This collaborative effort ensured the continued provision of clean water to the community, highlighting KMI’s commitment to addressing essential needs through sustainable solutions.
Volunteer Spotlight: Lenina’s Heartwarming Experience
Volunteer Lenina shared her transformative experience during a two-week stay in Kassunga. Her contributions ranged from setting up a solar-powered computer lab and assisting in medical clinics to engaging with students through the Tuition Assistance Program. One of the most memorable moments was creating a “chain of love,” a symbolic paper chain connecting students, teachers, and supporters, embodying the unity and shared purpose of the KMI community.
