ABOUT US

At Kassunga Mission Initiative, we believe that real change begins with opportunity – the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive.

Rooted in a deep love for the people of Kassunga, Uganda, our mission began with a simple goal: to help a small village build a brighter future. What started as a single school has blossomed into a life-changing movement, bringing education, clean water, healthcare, and hope to hundreds.

We walk alongside the community – listening first, then working together on solutions that last. Our projects are designed not to impose, but to empower: investing in local leadership, sustainable progress, and the dreams of every child who dares to imagine a better tomorrow.

We are a family of passionate volunteers, generous supporters, and lifelong friends united by a common belief: when we lift each other, we all rise.

Build hope with us.

The spectacular successes that  the KMI  ministry has made possible will have generational positive impacts on thousands of Ugandan people for years and years to come.

Saint Teresa Leaning Center, located in the village of Kassunga, Uganda, was founded by Father John Kazibwe, who grew up in Kassunga. It was a dream his mother, Teresa, had that one day they would have a school for the children in their village. Father John began faithfully serving in the Catholic Diocese of Richmond in 2008. He is currently the pastor of the Church of the Epiphany in Richmond, VA. Father John is one of many Ugandan missionary priests currently serving in Virginia, with many more Ugandan priests serving in other Dioceses around the United States.

This developing relationship between Catholic Christians from two different continents will, with the Holy Spirit’s help, also lead to a generational increase in faith among the men, women, and children in both communities.
