Behind every classroom that is built, every well that is drilled, and every child educated is a community of supporters who choose to give, advocate, and spread the word. At KMI, fundraising and awareness campaigns are how we extend the mission far beyond Kassunga – connecting hearts, hands, and resources across the globe.
Annual Fundraising Events
KMI hosts a variety of engaging fundraising events that bring people together to support a great cause. Highlights include:
- Charity Golf Tournaments, where friendly competition meets a greater purpose
- Benefit Dinners or silent auctions hosted by partnering churches or organizations
- Online Giving Campaigns that spotlight urgent needs or seasonal goals (like school supplies or water well repairs)

Peer-to-Peer Fundraising
Supporters are encouraged to start their own fundraising campaigns – from birthday donations on social media to community bake sales and school drives. KMI provides guidance, materials, and stories to help individuals become ambassadors for change.

Baseball Fundraiser
Through a partnership with the Richmond Flying Squirrels, volunteers serve as concession stand staff. All proceeds go to the Kassunga Mission Initiative.
It may come as a surprise, but one of our most successful fundraising efforts involves one of America’s favorite pastimes – baseball.
Through an ongoing partnership with the Richmond Flying Squirrels, KMI volunteers serve as concession stand staff, grilling up hot dogs, hamburgers, fries, and cold drinks throughout the season. This spirited effort can raise a hefty sum each year.
Not only have our volunteers mastered the art of the short-order kitchen, but they’ve also become so reliable and enthusiastic that the Squirrels have invited them to work as many game nights as they’d like. It’s a winning combination of great people, great fun, generous earnings for charity, and yes, the occasional free hot dog.
Sponsorship Programs
Through student sponsorship, donors can directly support a child’s education, covering tuition, materials, and meals. KMI also welcomes one-time or recurring gifts toward specific needs, like:
Building classrooms
Medical supplies
Teacher salaries
Water system repairs
