Mission Trips and Volunteer Engagement
Whether you’re a student, professional, retiree, or church group member, there’s a place for you in this shared journey of service, learning, and transformation.
At KMI, our mission is more than a message – it’s a movement powered by people. Our mission trips and volunteer partnerships are at the heart of this effort, connecting individuals from around the world with the people of Kassunga in meaningful, hands-on ways.

What Happens on a Mission Trip?
KMI organizes annual trips to Kassunga that allow volunteers to:
- Work on construction and infrastructure projects (like school buildings or water systems)
- Assist with education activities - tutoring, teaching, or reading with students
- Support health outreach with local clinics and community events
- Engage in relationship-building with residents through shared meals, prayer, worship, and cultural exchange
These trips are not about “fixing” Kassunga. They’re about walking together, learning from each other, growing through the experience, and forming lifelong bonds.
Skills Not Required - Just a Willing Heart
No specific background or expertise is necessary. Volunteers come from all walks of life, bringing their gifts to the table. Whether you’re laying bricks, painting walls, sharing music, or simply listening, your presence matters.

A Two-Way Impact
Mission trips leave a lasting impact not only on the community but on the volunteers themselves. Many describe their time in Kassunga as life-changing – gaining deeper perspective, a stronger faith, and a renewed sense of purpose.
Volunteers often return year after year, becoming part of the extended KMI family and advocates for its mission back home.
Year-Round Engagement Opportunities
